Four-weekly pay explained 2026/27
Four-weekly pay arrives every 28 days. There are 13 four-week periods in a standard 52-week conversion, compared with 12 calendar months, so four-weekly take-home is smaller than monthly take-home for the same annual salary.
How does four-weekly pay work?
Weekly-based PAYE normally uses four tax weeks for each four-weekly payment. A cumulative tax code accounts for earlier earnings and tax, while National Insurance and student loan deductions depend on their relevant period thresholds. A bonus or unpaid leave can therefore affect the deductions on a particular payslip.
A four-weekly payday moves through the calendar, which matters when rent and bills fall monthly. Some tax-year calendars include a 14th payday, handled as week 56 for PAYE. The table uses a standard 13-period budgeting conversion and does not model that extra payday.
On £100,000 a year, the no-pension, no-loan estimate is £5,273.65 per four weeks. This uses England, Wales and Northern Ireland rates and annualised deductions.
